Google’s Froogle (why do I feel silly typing that?) is now wireless-enabled. Now, the people who want to haggle with you over price, can look up prices on their phone and beat you up with them. Transactionally motivated shoppers are an energy drain on most retailers. There’s more profit and more customer loyalty in being the business they think about first and feel best about when the moment of need arises. We call them relational shoppers.
