New York Daily News – Breaking News – City seeks to trademark new slogans

More City Branding News: New York City has applied for a trademark for the phrase "The world’s second home."

One of the easiest things about blogging is the armchair quarterbacking. I was in New York City last November and although I enjoy the excitement and the fast pace, I cannot think of it as a second home. I think this slogan misses the mark.

But, from out here in the middle of fly-over country, what do I know?

‘Second home’? City seeks to trademark new slogans ASSOCIATED PRESS Would the "Big Apple," by any other name, still taste as sweet? New Yorkers may find out. The city has filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark several new slogans describing the city, including "The World’s Second Home," said Katherine Winningham, a senior city attorney specializing in trademark law.

I agree with you Dave, that new slogan sucks. People do not think of New York as home. First, second, third . . .

I like something like “This Planet’s Destination” or “Destination for the World” which is all encompassing and seems to say what NYC really is, a great destination. “The” destination. But a second home. Geez.
