More City Branding News: New York City has applied for a trademark for the phrase "The world’s second home."
One of the easiest things about blogging is the armchair quarterbacking. I was in New York City last November and although I enjoy the excitement and the fast pace, I cannot think of it as a second home. I think this slogan misses the mark.
But, from out here in the middle of fly-over country, what do I know?

The city has filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark several new slogans describing the city, including "The World’s Second Home," said Katherine Winningham, a senior city attorney specializing in trademark law.

I agree with you Dave, that new slogan sucks. People do not think of New York as home. First, second, third . . .
I like something like “This Planet’s Destination” or “Destination for the World” which is all encompassing and seems to say what NYC really is, a great destination. “The” destination. But a second home. Geez.
