In today’s scenario first thing a consumer does while he looking for some product is research and the best place to do so is web. I guess this strategy is a worth while as cost implication of the same won’t be high. Once the Radio advertisement is on Air and talks about the website for more information and details imagine the traffic it brings into the website. This has been tried by various companies here in India and I am sure they have been successful to a larger extent. what it does is Radio advertisement takes care not only takes care of the awareness part but also makes people log on for more information this would result in sales conversion as the consumer can se the product virtually and order the same. This is as good as a customer walk-in who would come to the marketers place and buy products. In fact better because consumers can buy things at there ease… any time any where
On a sellers point of view what is required is a good informative website bagged with good virtual product view and a decent Radio Advertisement to insure Top of mind recall. These two combination works to be effective for any brand and any company as it wont cost much and sales it brings is in would be worth wile. As you rightly quoted about your client who is practising the same for some time and has seen success to a larger extent lot of Brands have started using the same strategy of late and from all sectors

V...the job of the radio ads is to create just enough brand awareness to get them to the web site. Both the radio and the web rely on good writing.

Sir,this is a good strategy to draw customers to business websites. This will be more helpful for the players who had already created reputation in the market place. How does this work out for a new entrant in the local business who have not yet created his reputation and needs to create more brand awareness.

Hi David,

I have used this strategy in the past really successfully. You have your sites set up, you have your content but somtimes local people do not know you are. The radio allowed us to sell compost bins to people and it was free. Public relations should use radio forget press releases and focus on chat.
